Disc Recovery / IDD Therapy in Kilworth
Still Struggling With Back Pain, Sciatica or a Disc Problem?
Especially after you’ve already tried to get better?
Perhaps you’ve had chiropractic care, physiotherapy, exercise, massage, medication or injections. Things may have improved for a while, only for the pain, stiffness or nerve symptoms to return.
Maybe you’ve been told you have a bulging or herniated disc. Perhaps sitting or driving has become difficult. You may have pain, numbness or tingling travelling into your leg or arm.
Or you may simply feel frustrated that despite everything you’ve tried, you’re still not back to doing the things you want to do.
Sometimes a persistent disc problem needs a more targeted approach.
The Kilworth Chiropractic Clinic Disc Recovery Programme combines careful assessment, chiropractic care where appropriate, targeted IDD Therapy, movement and rehabilitation.
It’s to understand why your problem isn’t settling and help you get back to living your life.

The Kilworth Chiropractic Clinic Disc Recovery Programme
Our Disc Recovery Programme is not simply IDD Therapy. IDD Therapy is one part of a broader programme designed around the individual patient.
We assess your symptoms, examine how your spine is functioning and review your MRI where appropriate. But we also want to know:
What has this problem stopped you from doing? Sleeping? Driving? Working? Walking? Exercising? Playing golf? Picking up a grandchild? That matters because meaningful recovery is about more than a pain score.
Our programme focuses on three things:
RESTORE MOVEMENT
Where clinically appropriate, chiropractic care helps improve restricted spinal movement and address mechanical factors contributing to the problem.
DECOMPRESS
IDD Therapy provides gentle, computer-controlled decompression and mobilisation at a carefully selected spinal level.
REBUILD
Movement and rehabilitation help restore strength, mobility, load tolerance and confidence.
Pain relief matters — but getting your life back matters more.

What Is IDD Therapy?
IDD stands for Intervertebral Differential Dynamics.
It is a form of computer-controlled spinal decompression and mobilisation delivered using the Accu-SPINA system.
Unlike traditional traction, which generally applies a broad pull to the spine, IDD Therapy can direct treatment towards a specific lumbar or cervical spinal level using slow, controlled cycles of distraction and relaxation.
The aim is to gently mobilise the targeted spinal segment, reduce mechanical pressure where appropriate, relax surrounding tissues and create better conditions for recovery.
The machine doesn’t heal your body. Your body does the healing. Our job is to create the best possible conditions for that process.

What Does IDD Therapy Feel Like?
Treatment is gentle.
You remain fully clothed and are comfortably supported on the Accu-SPINA table using specially designed harnesses.
The system is programmed for the spinal level being treated and then applies a controlled sequence of gentle distraction and relaxation.
The IDD component lasts approximately 25 minutes, with the overall appointment usually taking around 45-60 minutes.
Many patients find the treatment extremely relaxing — some even fall asleep.
Why Did We Introduce IDD Therapy After More Than 30 Years in Practice?
“After more than 30 years in practice, I wasn’t looking for another machine. I was looking for another option for patients whose disc or nerve problem simply wasn’t responding as we would like.”
“What interested me was the ability to focus treatment at a particular spinal level using slow, controlled cycles rather than simply pulling on the whole spine.”
“IDD Therapy doesn’t replace chiropractic, rehabilitation, medical care or surgery when surgery is necessary. It gives us another useful option for carefully selected patients who need a more targeted approach.”

What Happens If You Come to See Us?
We want to understand what happened, how long you’ve been struggling, what you’ve already tried and how the problem is affecting your life.
We then examine you and review your MRI and other relevant information.
Once we’ve put the pieces together, we’ll explain what we believe is contributing to your problem and whether the Disc Recovery Programme is appropriate.
If it is, we’ll explain what we recommend, why we recommend it and what we realistically hope to achieve.
We monitor your progress throughout care and adapt the programme according to how you respond.
If you’re not progressing as expected, we reassess rather than simply repeating the same treatment.
Is IDD Therapy Suitable for Everyone?
No.
Certain spinal and medical conditions make IDD Therapy inappropriate, while others may require modified care or medical or consultant input before treatment begins.
If another treatment route is more appropriate, we’ll recommend that.
We don’t sell IDD sessions. We recommend the treatment pathway we believe is most appropriate for the person in front of us.
